Guy got hit doing bench press
It had been said so many times but guy doesn’t listen. Do not put up the weight if you can’t handle it. This guy sure learns his lesson. He let the bar slip and over 200 pound drop on chest. If he is lucky, he won’t be able to move for a few weeks. If he is not, he can break his rip and the rip could penetrate his lung.
Actually, both the guy who bench and the spotter doing it wrong.
First, the guy used a wrong grip. I know his thumb might not be able to handle that much weight. However, you should never use thumbless grip if you are not sure you can handle the weight.
Second, it is obvious that he can’t handle that much weight. In the first try he can’t even get the weight off. He should have stop and adjust the weight right there.
Third, he grip is not tight. Never, never lift off the weight before you firmly grip the bar because it is just that easy for you to loss control
Fourth, the spotter release too fast. His hand should be under the bar until it is half way down. The spotter hand doesn’t have to be on the bar but he should never withdraw his hand.
